Succop kicked a career-best 35 field goals in 2017, when his 42 attempts were two more than his combined attempts from 2015-16. Succop finished last season ninth in the NFL in scoring with 136 points. His 83.3-percent FG accuracy matched his career mark during nine NFL seasons. Succop has kicked at least one field goal of 50 or more yards in each season since he entered the league in 2009.
His ninth-place finish last season is the only top-10 finish of his career. Succop is just 17 of 32 from 50 yards or beyond. His long of 54 yards came in 2011 when he was with Kansas City.
The optimist might say that Succop is a kicker on the rise. The pessimist might not want to draft a guy who has been in the top 10 just one time in nine seasons. If your league allows room for two kickers, Succop is worth a flier. In leagues with more restrictive rosters, he’s likely to be one of the better bye-week options.
