Boom

Stafford was third in the NFL in 2017 with 4,446 passing yards. He ranked fourth in passing TDs with 29. Stafford has thrown just 20 interceptions in the last two seasons combined. In 2017, Stafford’s passing yardage was the best since his 2013 season. His 99.3 passer rating was the best of his career. Stafford has finished top 10 in passing yards for seven straight years. He was the No. 1 overall selection of the 2009 NFL draft. His best season was 2011, when he threw for over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns. He has thrown for a minimum of 4,200 yards and 20 TDs in each season since 2011. Stafford has played in all 16 games for seven consecutive seasons.

Bust

Stafford was sacked 47 times in 2017. Only Jacoby Brissett of Indianapolis was sacked more often. He had no rushing TDs last season, but he did fumble 11 times, losing seven. The Lions desperately need to improve their pass protection and their offensive line in general. Stafford will be playing for his third head coach (Matt Patricia) in 2018.

Bottom Line

Stafford doesn’t do a lot to excite fantasy owners. He’s not flashy, and he won’t get you much with his legs. However, he has been a consistent fantasy producer for seven years in a row. Stafford is another good option for owners preferring to draft their QB after the first few rounds.
