Boom

In 2017, Ryan topped 4,000 yards passing for the seventh consecutive season. He finished sixth in the NFL with 4,095 yards, completing 64.7 percent of his passes and throwing for 20 touchdowns. Over his 10 NFL seasons, Ryan has produced an average of 4,180 passing yards and 26 touchdowns per year. Ryan has missed just two games in his career, and none since 2009. He produced a monster year in his 2016 MVP campaign, finishing second in passing yardage (4,944) and touchdown passes (38). Ryan led the league in passer rating (117.1) that year and was intercepted just seven times in 534 attempts. The Falcons went to the Super Bowl in 2016, blowing a huge lead and losing in overtime to the Patriots.

Bust

Last season, 16 quarterbacks threw for more TDs than Ryan. His 38 touchdowns in 2016 were the exception, not the rule. He has thrown for 30 or more scores in just two seasons -- 2012 and 2016. Itís beginning to look like that magical 2016 had a lot to do with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, now the head coach of the 49ers. Ryan has just five career rushing touchdowns -- the last one coming in 2012.

Bottom Line

Ryan is your prototypical high floor/low ceiling fantasy QB. Of course, he did have that high-ceiling 2016 season, but that is just one of 10. In his other nine seasons, from a fantasy perspective, he has produced average-to-above-average numbers. Injury can strike any NFL player at any time, but Ryan has answered the bell 158 times in 160 regular-season contests. The Falcons spent their first-rounder on a perfect Julio Jones sidekick, fellow former Alabama standout Calvin Ridley, who replaces Taylor Gabriel (signed with Bears) and joins Jones and Mohamed Sanu to form a fantastic WR triumvirate. Ryan's a safe bet and an ideal fantasy guy to pair with a riskier QB
