In 2017 -- his first full season with the Vikings, Forbath went 32 of 38 on field goals and finished with 130 points, tying him for 10th place in scoring. He joined Minnesota in Week 11 of 2016 and connected on all 15 of his field goals in seven games that season. In his six-year NFL career, including stints in New Orleans and Washington, Forbath has connected on 86 percent of his FG attempts and is 11 of 17 (64.7 percent) from 50 yards or beyond.
Forbath missed five of his 39 PATs last season and has missed eight extra points in 23 games with Minnesota. Other than his 57-yarder with the Saints in 2015, Forbath has made just 10 kicks from 50 yards or more (he did deliver in crunch time with a 53-yarder late in the divisional-round victory over the Saints). The Vikings spent a fifth-round pick on Daniel Carlson, who will duel with Forbath in a camp battle.
The Vikings were 11th in total yards and 10th in scoring. With the new QB and OC, there is some guesswork here, but Cousins should be an upgrade over Keenum, and DeFilippo is well-regarded in NFL circles. Forbath is not as established as one might want in a fantasy kicker, but his upside is high enough to warrant a spot on rosters, if he is able to hold off Carlson, a two-time SEC specialist of the year.
