Strong Points: Tall and long. Large receiving radius. Competitive receiver in traffic. Good speed and bust for a tall guy. Willing as a blocker, where he flashes. Soft hands and adjusts to the ball. Flashes run- after-catch skills.
Weak Points: Narrow frame -- and won't get much bigger. Must increase his strength, especially in the lower body. Struggled against Ohio State. Willing as a blocker but not strong enough to be consistently effective. Only played the position a couple of years.
The Way We See It: Gentry is an interesting guy, arriving in Ann Arbor as a quarterback before switching positions. He is tall, long and athletic, with better than adequate play speed. Gentry lines up in-tight and flexed out. When he is asked to block in-tight, Gentry gives good effort but isn't always productive because he lacks power and top strength. Still, he always looks to sustain and finish. As a receiver, he shows some speed and works to get open. He runs smoothly and has some juice. He has a large receiving radius to make tough grabs. Overall, Gentry has upside because of his athleticism and competitive nature. He must add strength but has the traits to be a reliable backup who gets play time in two-TE formations.
