- BProjectionRound 4-5
- Hand9 ½
- Arm32 ¼
Strong Points: Very good size. Plays with bend. Strong and explosive taking on blocks. Aggressive tackler. Makes a lot of plays in the run game. Speed.
Weak Points: Many of the plays he makes are downfield (not at the line of scrimmage). More of a reactor than anticipator -- often a step late getting to plays. Not the most fluid guy in his pass drops. Plays too loose. Fast but a bit tight in hips, slowing change of direction.
The Way We See It: If this was seven or eight years ago, Lamar would be a different prospect. He is not a top defender in space, where he has trouble making plays. Coverage is not Lamar's forte, as he doesn't have loose, agile hips to change direction and awareness to avoid getting fooled by misdirection and play-action. Thus, we project Lamar strictly as a first- and second-down backer in a 3-4 scheme who he lacks the speed to be effective in a 4-3.
