Strong Points: Improved his numbers each season. Reads defenses well and makes quick decisions. Quick release. Mostly accurate with good ball placement. Good timing with his throws. Calm and poised. On-field leader.
Weak Points: Though most of his numbers consistently improved, he turned the ball over more in 2018. Not a top athlete who makes plays with his feet. Good (not great) arm talent -- doesn't drive the ball. Lean frame and must add bulk to withstand the rigors of the NFL.
The Way We See It: A very solid three-year starter who transferred from Boise State, Finley made full-field reads, most of them quickly and wisely. He has a quick, overhand delivery and throws a tight ball. He is accurate and shows good ball placement. What Finley can't do is drive the ball — his arm strength is adequate, but he doesn't have a cannon. Finley's intangibles are strong, and he has the skills to eventually become a winning NFL starter. Smart kid who knows and understands the game. Finley won't be a high pick, but the team that selects him will be glad it did.
