Strong Points: Size. Plays with strength, speed and athleticism. Quick reactor. Consistent run defender who stacks and sheds at the point of attack. Three-year starter. Great range and ability to make plays sideline to sideline. Quick with his dropsa and gets proper depth. Shows speed as a pass rusher.
Weak Points: Instincts are good (not great) and more of a reactor than an anticipator. Chases hard but doesn't always arrive under control, break down and make the play. Only one career interception. Must use hands better and develop more moves as a pass rusher.
The Way We See It: With an excellent combination of size, speed and athleticism, Alaka is a great fit for today's game. He was a three-year starter, but with all that playtime he should make more plays than he does. He would make more if he learned to stay under control and not overrun plays. Alaka's coverage skills remain a work in progress. We don't see him coming in and starting right away unless that team has a strong need at the position. Alaka is an ascending player with natural physical traits, but he needs a year of development to refine his skills.
