Strong Points: Adequate size for the position, with the frame to get bigger. Really good athlete who should test well. Runs well. Good route runner who creates separation and is effective short and deep. Good after the catch. Better blocker than most college tight ends nowadays. Soft hands and large receiving radius. Can play inside or outside.

Weak Points: Needs to get a little bigger and stronger. Production not as good as it should be for a player with his traits. Opted out of playing in Iowa's bowl game.

The Way We See It: A true junior entering the draft, Fant played a lot of football at Iowa. He has the growth potential, speed and overall athleticism to be a very good NFL tight end. Coming from the Iowa program, he knows how to block -- and he blocks well. He may lack the size to play as a "Y" right now, but he has the blocking traits to line up there and produce in time. He can easily play as a "move," but his blocking makes him that much more valuable. He will be one of the first tight ends selected. With his physical traits, he will create matchup problems for opponents and could be poised for a very big rookie year.

Arthur Arkush: One of my bigger 2019 NFL draft crushes, Fant has unlimited upside with his special blend of size, athleticism and desire. Is he a ready-made two-way NFL tight end like teammate T.J. Hockenson? No. But a huge part to being a successful blocker is want-to, and there's no question Fant wants to use his speed, pop on contact and frame to be a big factor in the run game. As a receiver, he gets open at will with explosiveness at the top of his routes and makes the difficult catches appear routine. Fant has the versatility to line up everywhere, from in line to detached out wide and on the wing. He'll have a few concentration drops and missed assignments, but he seems to have an innate feel of how to find the sticks and openings in zone coverage. Fant is a rare prospect because of his potential to develop into a complete tight end, a dying breed in today's NFL.
