Strong Points: Height, length and growth potential to 240 pounds. Soft hands. Strong route runner -- good release and sets defenders up well. Large receiving radius and can snatch the ball. Adequate runner after the catch. Productive season in 2018. One of the best WR workouts at the combine.
Weak Points: Only one year with big-time production. Notre Dame people claim he runs fast but plays like he's closer to 4.60. Lacks a real burst going to the ball. He has great size, but he isn't the most physical guy. Will have some concentration drops. Only a one-year starter.
The Way We See It: Boykin is a fourth-year junior who has graduated from Notre Dame. Last season was his first as a starter -- and he came on big with 59 receptions for 872 yards and 8 touchdowns. Boykin is a huge wide receiver with long arms who tests like a superior athlete but doesn't play that way. He has a thick frame and could easily get to 240 pounds if he had to. He plays like he will be a big possession receiver at the next level but works out out like he should be the consummate deep threat. Boykin comes up with most contested throws, and with his size and growth potential, some clubs may have him play some "move" tight end. The problem clubs have is the stop watch and play speed don't match up with Boykin, making him a wild-card selection.
