Strong Points: Good size and very long arms. Plays with strength and power. Reacts well and finds the ball. Good but not great run defender. Makes the plays he should make. Quick with his pass drop and gets depth. Aware in zone coverage and can play some man. Effective when used as a blitzer.
Weak Points: Only a one-year starter, which is typical at Alabama. Not as physical as some recent Alabama linebackers. More of a reactor than an anticipator. Solid but unspectacular defending the run.
The Way We See It: A third-year junior and one-year starter for the Crimson Tide, Wilson has very good size, speed and athleticism. He shows awareness and sinks to proper depth in coverage, where he's an asset. Adequate overall instincts but reacts instead of anticipating. Impressive range and knows how to play the football in flight. Good run defender, just not a real banger. Uses his hands and gets rid of blocks but doesn't blow up his opponents. Overall, he is a good, steady linebacker who will play early in his career. Best suited to play in a 3-4 but can be a "Will" or a "Sam" in a 4-3.
