Strong Points: Very consistent -- 84 and 71 tackles, respectively, and 2 INTs each of past two seasons. Reacts quickly to run and pass and aggressive run-support player. Lines up and plays some man coverage on inside receivers with above-average results. Good zone player. Athletic. Plays faster than he will time. Very good open-field tackler.
Weak Points: Lacks great speed for the position. Average range to the sideline. Short for the position -- especially if he has to play man against tall tight ends.
The Way We See It: A very solid, consistent college safety who lacks any special traits for the next level, Willis will be best playing a lot of zone, where his awareness and anticipation are maximized. He's adequate in man coverage but might struggle with wideouts or fast "move" tight ends. Willis has eventual starter upside in the right scheme, but short of significant improvements, he's the type of player teams will look to replace. Willis has excellent special-teams potential.
