Strong Points: All-out competitor. Good athlete with speed and quickness. Came on strong last season with four sacks in his final two games. Quick off the ball, stays low and uses good moves and counter moves. Shows strength at the point and disrupts the run game.Very good pursuit player. Good height with long arms. Alert and instinctive -- not fooled by misdirection.
Weak Points: Some tightness in his hips. Faces frequent double teams and can struggle to get free. Wasn't asked to drop into coverage at Miami. Might be maxed out, size-wise.
The Way We See It: Jackson is a true junior who started in his final two seasons after having one start as a true freshman. He is a top competitor who plays hard and forced opponents to account for him on every snap at the college level. He is best as a pass rusher, using his quickness off the ball, moves and redirection skills. Not a real power rusher but will generate a push. Closes well off of blocks. Plays the run well and is excellent in pursuit. Best NFL position will be as a 4-3 end. Because of his tightness in his hips, the 3-4 clubs will want to work him out and see if he can drop into coverage. But he can be a good pass rusher in any scheme. Will contribute right away and can start in the right situation.
