Strong Points: Quick off the ball. Strong at the point of attack. Generates a push and disrupts in the run game. Effective vs. double teams -- occupies blocks and never gives ground. Strong tackler. Instinctive and reacts quickly to different situations. Seldom out of position.

Weak Points: Short arms for a defensive lineman (32"). Provides little pass rush beyond a push. Slow. Short arms cause him to lose leverage. Hands must get quicker and more violent.

The Way We See It: A defensive tackle who sometimes lined up as a 5-tech, Russell really is strictly a nose guard, where he has the size, strength, girth and power to play. His best skills: anchor at the point, absorb blockers and periodically collapse the pocket. Russell only will be a two-down player at the NFL level, and I doubt he will be a starter. He's a backup who could develop into a rotational run stuffer.
