Strong Points: Productive. Quick burst and the speed to get the corner turned outside. Good vision/instincts -- makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. Patient runner who explodes once the seam appears. Powerful and will create after contact. Big-time breakaway ability. Improved as a receiver last season.
Weak Points: Only one year (2018) as a full-time starter, and even then it was after he missed four games following a drug suspension. Needs a lot of work with his pass-blocking technique. Hands can be inconsistent.
The Way We See It: Williams is one of the more talented running backs to come through Notre Dame in years, but he couldn't be totally trusted and didn't see the field as much as a player with his ability should. His receiving skills were below average prior to 2018, when he made big improvements, albeit namely as a check-down receiver, not running routes. Very quick to the hole with plus vision and burst to break a long run at any time. Makes people miss in tight or in the open field. Doesn't provide much as a blocker. Projects as a rotational player early on until he perfects his blocking skills. Starter potential down the road if that happens. Won't get drafted as high as his talent level suggests because of off-field issues.
