Strong Points: Good cover ability in man, off and zone. Reacts well to the ball in the air. Teams don't test him that much. Willing run-support player and tackler. Heady in zone with good receiver awareness. No false steps when transitioning. Quick feet and loose hips.

Weak Points: Short by today's standards to play outside. Rarely jams receivers. Loses jump balls to taller receivers. Not a burner but likely a 4.50-4.52-type. Short arms?

The Way We See It: A very consistent two-year starter, Long is smart and instinctive. He played a lot of man coverage but not a press guy. He gets (and keeps) good position in man, and has a low pedal and smooth turn. Fast and sudden, Long closes in a hurry with no wasted steps. He's aware in zone with good pattern recognition. Though not overly physical in run support, he's a willing and consistent tackler. What Long lacks is very good top-end speed and height. Big receivers can beat him because of their size and reach advantage. He looks to us like a slot corner in the NFL who should be able to play early in his career. As with all corners, physical testing will be important. If he runs faster than estimated, he could go higher than my grade.
