Strong Points: Tall with long arms (32 ¾") and big hands (9 ¾"). Good athlete with better-than-adequate speed. Strong release. Route quickness -- flashes separation skills. Makes some difficult catches and does damage afterward.
Weak Points: Only lined up on the right side of the formation. Very minimal route tree -- mostly hitch, go and out routes, with something different occasionally mixed in. Makes some tough catches, but he commits concentration drops on some easy throws. Lacks physicality -- not a blocker.
The Way We See It: Lodge is coming off his best season with 65 receptions and four touchdowns, but he is very limited. Ole Miss always lined him up on the right side, where he wasn't asked to do much. He very rarely adjusted his route when his QB was in trouble, which raises questions about his awareness. He has good hands -- and will make the acrobatic catch -- but then inexplicably drop a gimme. We just don't see a lot of physicality in his game, which doesn't include blocking. Basically, Lodge is a size-speed prospect with good hands, but he's very raw. He might need a year on the practice squad because right now he lacks the strength and physicality to be a special-teams asset.
