- CProjectionRound 6
- Hand9 ⅝
Strong Points: Tall with very good arm length (34 ½"). Gets off the ball in a hurry with a quick first step. Drops into coverage at least a few times a game. Bursts off blocks to close. Reads and reacts well vs. run and pass. Good pursuit player.
Weak Points: Narrow frame and limited growth potential. Lacks top upper- and lower-body strength. Must improve hand use -- slow to shed. No bull rush. Pass-rush production dropped dramatically from 2017 to 2018 (9 ½ sacks to 3 ½). Lacks finishing ability. Some hip tightness prevents him from getting low and getting under opponents.
The Way We See It: Granderson has a couple key pass-rush traits -- speed and long arms. Where he must improve is with his strength and hand use. Granderson looks best against Mountain West competition, but battling Power-5 guys zapped his effectiveness. He is a developmental player who can contribute on special teams while he works to get bigger and stronger. Granderson has experience dropping into coverage but a long ways to go until he can be entrusted in that area. He's a Day 3 pick with upside.
