EAGLES defense smothered Jets while offense was just so-so in 31-6 Week 5 rout. Eagles became the first team in NFL history to record 10 sacks and score two defensive touchdowns in a single game.
EAGLES’ defense dominated the Jets from the start, holding an opponent to no points on an opening drive for the first time this season. Jets were limited to a minuscule 128 total yards with only 3-of-14 3rd-down conversions.
DE Brandon Graham had a career-high 3 of EAGLES’ 10 sacks after he only had 4 last season. In addition, CB Orlando Scandrick, playing his first game with the Eagles, had two sacks on corner blitzes and stole the ball on the second one and ran it back 44 yards to make it 31-6 in the fourth quarter, and OLB Nate Gerry returned an INT for a score.
EAGLES’ offense that managed only 265 total yards scored TDs on their first two possessions inside the red zone to extend their streak to nine straight before settling for a field goal on the next trip inside New York's 20 in Week 5 win.
EAGLES QB Carson Wentz threw for 189 yards and one touchdown (89.6 QB rating), RB Jordan Howard ran for 62 yards and one TD on 13 carries with a long of 15, TE Zach Ertz had 5-57-1 receiving on 7 targets with a long of 21 and WR Alshon Jeffery had 6-52 receiving on 8 targets with a long of 13 in Week 5 rout.

VIKINGS passing game came alive big-time in Week Five 28-10 road win over Giants, as QB Kirk Cousins threw a pair of TDs to WR Adam Thielen, RB Dalvin Cook ran for 132 yards and defense limited Giants to 211 yards.
VIKINGS’ Cousins, who had his best performance in some time (22-27-306-2 TDs-0 INTs-138.6 QB rating), threw TD passes of 15 and 9 yards to WR Adam Thielen, who complained about the one-sided nature of the offense after a two-catch, 6-yard game the previous week vs. Chicago. Thielen finished with seven catches for 130 yards.
VIKINGS’ Thielen has a habit of rebounding after bad games. His two-catch game in Week 4 was his second lowest since 2016. He went without a reception once, on Dec. 18, 2016, vs. Colts. He followed with career-high 202 yards on 12 catches for two TDs vs. Packers.
VIKINGS’ Cook, who failed to score a TD in a game for the first time this season, had 21-132 rushing with a long of 41 (6.3 ypc) and 6-86 receiving on 6 targets with a long of 24 to spearhead 211-yard ground game in Week 5.
WR Shelton Diggs, who also had voiced his displeasure with VIKINGS’ one-dimensional offense heavily titled toward ground game in first 4 games, had 3-44 receiving on 4 targets with a long of 20, but shot down trade rumors after the game, saying he wanted to remain a Viking.
VIKINGS PK Dan Bailey hit FGs of 31, 48, 32 and 45 yards for Minnesota, which scored on four of its six possessions in the first half. The fifth ended in a fumble inside the 5-yard line, and the sixth on a last play Hail Mary.
