How's this for a novel concept: Not only are Jordan Reed and Tyler Eifert poised to play in Week 1, Reed wasn't even listed on Washington's injury report, and Eifert has been a full participant through two practices! Seriously ... you can look it up!

And as long as things remain that way, owners shouldn't think twice before inserting them into lineups, even with Reed visiting a Cardinals 'D' that was fantasy's toughest on tight ends two seasons ago and no pushover last year, and Eifert perhaps no better than a third or fourth option with Joe Mixon and John Ross in tow.

New Washington quarterback Alex Smith loves throwing to his tight ends — Kansas City leads the NFL in total TE targets over the past three seasons — and going from Travis Kelce to Reed could equal a real lovefest if Reed is ready to play something close to a full slate for the first time. Eifert has 18 combined touchdowns over his past 15 starts, and even that spans the past three seasons, as far as red-zone prowess goes, you can't spell elite without Tyler Eifert.

One more Week 1 TE programming note: Steelers rookie fifth-rounder Jaylen Samuels, a true Swiss Army Knife for the Wolfpack last year, currently has Yahoo! eligibility at tight end and running back. He also has the Browns, who allowed 10 touchdowns to the position last season, up first. With no end in sight to Le'Veon Bell's holdout, Vance McDonald still hurt and expectations needing tempering when it comes to new Steelers RB1 James Conner, Samuels is absolutely worth an add if you've got the space.
