There is a certain school of thought that the potential signing of RB LaDainian Tomlinson would have been a huge score for the Vikings, for several reasons.

Sapp, Benny (CB)
Posted March 09, 2010 @ 7:58 p.m.
Sapp agreed to terms on a new contract with the Vikings on Tuesday.
Sapp started a total of seven games last season while filling in for injured starter Antoine Winfield, totaling 25 tackles, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles during a particularly strong six-game stretch. He finished the regular season with 55 tackles, the most in his NFL seasons. Sapp served the rest of the season as the nickel back, and his presence this year will be important since Winfield and fellow starter Cedric Griffin are coming off injuries.

It appears that Longwell will not be handling kickoffs next season.
The Vikings signed kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd on Tuesday. Lloyd handled kickoffs for the Carolina Panthers the last two seasons, leading the NFL with 30 touchbacks in 2008. He had 21 touchbacks last year, tied for fourth-most in the league.

The Minnesota Vikings have signed kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd. The Vikings announced the deal Tuesday.
Lloyd handled kickoffs for the Carolina Panthers the last two seasons, leading the NFL with 30 touchbacks in 2008. He had 21 touchbacks last year, tied for fourth-most in the league. Ryan Longwell remains the regular kicker for the Vikings. He was second in the NFL in field-goal percentage, but had only five touchbacks last year, 23rd in the league.
Favre, Brett (QB)
Posted Feb. 26, 2010 @ 11:16 a.m.
Minnesota coach Brad Childress will give Favre as much time as he wants to make up his mind about coming back for the 2010 season. Childress spoke Friday at the NFL's annual scouting combine.
Right now, Childress said football is not Favre's primary focus. Childress said he spoke with Favre this week and that he was still recovering from the beating he took in the NFC championship game. He's also putting down limestone at his mother-in-law's house. Still, Childress said Favre, known for changing his mind and being a gunslinger, has earned the right to take his time to make a decision and the Vikings are prepared to wait.
McKinnie, Bryant (T)
Posted Feb. 19, 2010 @ 3:35 p.m.
McKinnie must pay back the NFL for his non-participation in the Pro Bowl.
The NFL said Friday it will require a $4,285 reimbursement from McKinnie for expenses incurred that week in Miami. McKinnie skipped most of the team practices and obligations, and was then dismissed from the NFC all-star squad. NFL spokesman Randall Liu also said McKinnie has forfeited his $22,500 game check.
