Smith, an unrestricted free agent courted for his versatility, has agreed to terms with the Houston Texans, his Nashville-based agent, Brian Parker, confirmed. Smith's four-year deal includes $6.25 million in guaranteed money in the first year and averages about $3 million a season.
An eight-year veteran who started 16 games over the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith is expected to challenge for a starting job at guard or center with the Texans. He also was courted by the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals.

Walter has been re-signed by the Houston Texans. Terms were not disclosed Monday.
Walter started 14 games opposite Andre Johnson last season and had 53 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns. He joined the Texans in 2006 and has 195 receptions for 2,470 yards and 15 touchdowns since arriving in Houston. Walter, who has started 45 games in the last three seasons, signed with the Texans after three seasons in Cincinnati.

Turk has been re-signed by the Houston Texans. Terms were not disclosed Monday.
Turk averaged a franchise-best 42.8 yards per punt last season and landed 24 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line. The 41-year-old spent the last three seasons with the Texans after a year in St. Louis.

The Houston Texans have tendered offers to Daniels and six other restricted free agents.
Daniels was one of the top receiving tight ends in the league before tearing a knee ligament in November. He had 40 catches for 519 yards and five touchdowns in eight games last season.
