Grossman, Rex (QB)

Posted April 03, 2013 @ 2:54 p.m.
Grossman has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Washington Redskins.
Grossman's return gives the Redskins the same trio of quarterbacks as last season, and his veteran presence is an extra piece of insurance in case Robert Griffin III doesn't recover from a serious knee injury by Week 1 in September.

Hall, DeAngelo (CB)

Posted April 02, 2013 @ 12:55 a.m.
Hall is back with the Washington Redskins, agreeing to a more affordable one-year contract after being cut for salary cap reasons three weeks ago. A person familiar with the deal said Monday night that Hall decided to return for approximately $2 million in 2013, a considerable drop-off from the $7.5 million in salary he would have made under his previous contract.
Hall was a casualty of the Redskins' $36 million salary cap penalty imposed by the NFL for the way the team structured contracts during the 2010 uncapped season. The second half of the penalty kicked in this year, so Hall was released by coach Mike Shanahan on the eve of free agency so the Redskins could get under the cap. Hall talked to other teams but couldn't find a better option than to stay where he was - albeit for considerably less money.

Davis, Fred (TE)

Posted March 29, 2013 @ 10:37 a.m.
A person familiar with the deal says Davis has agreed to a one-year contract to remain with the Washington Redskins. The person said Friday that Davis opted to remain with the Redskins after exploring options with the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has yet to announce the deal. Davis might have been one of the most coveted tight ends on the free agent market if he were healthy, but he's recovering from a torn left Achilles suffered in a loss to the New York Giants in October. He had 24 catches for 325 yards in seven games last year.

Davis, Fred (TE)

Posted March 28, 2013 @ 5:49 p.m.
Free agent tight end Fred Davis intends to continue weighing his options after meeting with the Buffalo Bills for a second time.
Davis visited the Bills' facility Thursday after dining with team officials last weekend. Though interested in Buffalo, Davis hasn't ruled out re-signing with Washington. He's scheduled to visit the New York Jets on Friday.

Biggers, E.J. (CB)

Posted March 20, 2013 @ 12:41 p.m.
The Washington Redskins have filled at least one hole in their depleted secondary by agreeing to terms with Biggers.
Biggers agreed to the deal Wednesday. He has played three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and started 12 games last year, taking Aqib Talib's spot after Talib was suspended and traded to the New England Patriots. The Redskins have been looking for replacements for starter DeAngelo Hall and nickel cornerback Cedric Griffin. Hall was cut this month for salary cap reasons, and Griffin is a free agent.

Polumbus, Tyler (T)

Posted March 18, 2013 @ 12:56 p.m.
Polumbus has agreed to a two-year deal to return to the Washington Redskins.
Polumbus started a career-high 15 games last season. He was expected to be the backup to Jammal Brown, but Brown sat out the year with a hip injury.

Kehl, Bryan (LB)

Posted March 15, 2013 @ 10:56 a.m.
The Redskins have announced the re-signing of Kehl.
Kehl's strength is special teams, and his signing Friday helps soften the blow of the loss of Lorenzo Alexander, the Pro Bowl special teams player who left the Redskins as a free agent this week to sign with the Arizona Cardinals.

Trueblood, Jeremy (T)

Posted March 14, 2013 @ 12:16 p.m.
The Washington Redskins have signed Trueblood, giving the team another inexpensive contender for the vacant right tackle position.
Trueblood has started 84 games over seven NFL seasons, all with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He lost his starting job after one game last year and finished the season on injured reserve. Tyler Polumbus was the starter at right tackle last year for the Redskins, but he is an unrestricted free agent.

Rocca, Sav (P)

Posted March 12, 2013 @ 5:42 p.m.
The Redskins on Tuesday agreed to a two-year deal Rocca, the 39-year-old former Australian rules football player who has played two seasons in Washington.
The Redskins are traditionally an active player in free agency, but they have little money to spend because of a $36 million salary cap penalty imposed by the NFL for the way they structured contracts during the 2010 uncapped season. The second half of the penalty took effect Tuesday at the formal start of the new league year.

Griffin III, Robert (QB)

Posted March 12, 2013 @ 11:59 a.m.
Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says RGIII is "ahead of schedule" in his return from knee surgery.
Shanahan, speaking at the NFL owners meeting on Wednesday, said that when Griffin comes back, he must learn how to protect himself in the face of the fierce defenses in the NFL. Once Griffin does come back, Shanahan says the young quarterback needs to learn to slide and throw the ball away to avoid the big hits that lead to injuries.
