Jennings, Rashad (RB)
The Oakland Raiders have signed safety Reggie Smith and Jennings to free agent contracts. General manager Reggie McKenzie announced the deals Thursday.
Jennings replaces Mike Goodson as the backup to Darren McFadden. He has rushed for 944 yards and seven touchdowns and caught 61 passes in 38 games with Jacksonville. After missing the 2011 season with a knee injury, Jennings returned to play 10 games last season and start six. He averaged just 2.8 yards per carry.
Smith, Reggie (S)
The Oakland Raiders have signed Smith and running back Rashad Jennings to free agent contracts. General manager Reggie McKenzie announced the deals Thursday.
Smith played four years with San Francisco after being a third-round pick in 2008. He had two interceptions and seven passes defensed in 45 games. He was with Carolina in training camp last year but was cut before the season.
Young, Usama (S)
The Cleveland Browns have released Young.
Young was signed as a free agent in 2011. In two seasons with the team he had 19 starts, 118 tackles and four interceptions.
Flynn, Matt (QB)
The Raiders acquired Seattle backup Matt Flynn on Monday for draft picks, bringing an end to Carson Palmer's brief tenure as starter in Oakland even before they are done paying the steep price they dealt to acquire him.
Flynn, a backup in college at LSU to former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, has started just two games in five seasons as a pro. But it's those brief appearances that intrigue many NFL teams. He threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns in a loss at New England in place of an injured Aaron Rodgers late in the 2010 season. He then started the regular-season finale the following season, going 31 for 44 for 480 yards and six touchdown passes in a 45-41 win over D
Barron, Alex (T)
The Raiders signed Barron, who has not played a game since 2010. He sat out the 2011 season with a knee injury and went to training camp with Seattle last summer but did not make the team.
Barron was a first-round pick by St. Louis in 2005. He has played 87 games and has experience at both left and right tackle. Oakland previously re-signed right tackle Khalif Barnes, who can play guard as well as tackle. Jared Veldheer is expected to remain the starter at left tackle.
