Simmons, Kendall (G)
Posted Nov. 06, 2009 @ 4 p.m.
The New England Patriots have released Simmons, who was inactive for six of his seven games with the team.
Simmons, 30, signed with the Patriots on Sept. 6 after being waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers. They chose him with the 30th pick of the first round in 2002 out of Auburn and he started all 80 games in which he played during seven seasons with Pittsburgh. He missed the entire 2004 season with a right knee injury and was limited to four games last year by a right Achilles' tendon injury.
Moss, Randy (WR)
Posted Oct. 26, 2009 @ 4:45 p.m.
Moss had five catches for 69 yards but was held out of the end zone Sunday against Tampa Bay in London, even though the Patriots beat Tampa Bay 35-7.
Moss had exploded for 129 yards and three touchdowns the previous week against Tennessee. While that kind of output won't happen every week, Tom Brady appears back on track and Moss should be one of the elite fantasy WRs after New England's bye this week.
Welker, Wes (WR)
Posted Oct. 26, 2009 @ 4:41 p.m.
Welker racked up 10 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown as the Patriots blew out Tampa Bay 35-7 on Sunday in London.
That gives Welker 343 yards and four touchdowns in the last three games, and with Tom Brady back on track he turns into a must-play every week once again. That is, every week after the Patriots' bye this week.
Maroney, Laurence (RB)
Posted Oct. 26, 2009 @ 4:38 p.m.
Maroney had 43 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' 35-7 drubbing of Tampa Bay on Sunday in London.
It was understandable to have high hopes for Maroney given the Buccaneers' poor run defense and the absence of Fred Taylor and Sammy Morris. Maroney was decent, but the Patriots mostly stuck to the air, proving again it's a risky proposition to rely on New England running backs for fantasy purposes. You won't have the opportunity this week, as the Patriots are on bye.
Brady, Tom (QB)
Posted Oct. 26, 2009 @ 4:32 p.m.
Brady threw three touchdown passes and had more than 300 yards as the Patriots beat the Buccaneers 35-7 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday in the NFL's third regular-season game at the iconic London venue.
Brady threw a pair of un-Brady-like interceptions, but that will likely be forgiven by most fantasy owners considering the rest of this numbers the last two weeks. In blowout victories over Tennessee and Tampa Bay, he has thrown for 688 yards and nine touchdowns, and his surgically repaired knee seems to be just fine. He won't score any points this week, however, as the Patriots have their bye week.
