Ryan, Matt (QB)

Posted April 15, 2013 @ 1:16 p.m.
Ryan says he is not focusing on contract talks as he appears destined to become the NFL's next $100 million quarterback. General manager Thomas Dimitroff says the Falcons hope to finalize a new deal with Ryan before the season.
Drew Brees, Tony Romo and Joe Flacco have recently signed five- or six-year deals worth at least $100 million. As the most recent Super Bowl winner, Flacco became the game's highest-paid player with his $120.6 million deal.

Umenyiora, Osi (DE)

Posted March 27, 2013 @ 9:06 p.m.
The Atlanta Falcons have found a replacement for John Abraham by reaching an agreement with free-agent defensive end Osi Umenyiora on a two-year contract. Terms of the deal weren't released. Umenyiora's agent, Tom Condon, couldn't be immediately reached for comment. The Falcons released the 34-year-old Abraham, who led the team with 10 sacks in 2012, on March 1.
With the 31-year-old Umenyiora, the Falcons have a slightly younger replacement at defensive end. Umenyiora had only six sacks for the Giants in 2012. He had a career-high 14 1/2 sacks in 2005, but has reached double figures in only one of the last four years - 11 1/2 in 2010. Umenyiora, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, was a second-round pick by New York in 2003.

Jackson, Steven (RB)

The Atlanta Falcons have found their replacement for Michael Turner by agreeing to terms with free agent Steven Jackson on a three-year deal. The Falcons announced the agreement on Thursday, but did not release the terms.
The 30-year-old Jackson had 1,042 yards rushing and four touchdowns with the Rams last season. It was his eighth straight season with more than 1,000 yards rushing. Jackson has 10,135 yards rushing, the most of any active player. He set career highs with 1,528 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns with St. Louis in 2006.

Posted March 12, 2013 @ 10:21 p.m.
The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a six-year contract with Sam Baker, bringing back another key play on a team that came up just short of the Super Bowl.
The deal with Baker was announced late Tuesday night. It was overshadowed by the big news of the day in Flowery Branch - tight end Tony Gonzalez has decided to come back for another season at age 37, after initially saying he was likely to retire.

Gonzalez, Tony (TE)

Posted March 12, 2013 @ 1:44 p.m.
Gonzalez, who has more catches than any tight end in NFL history, announced Tuesday he is returning to the Falcons for the 2013 season.
Gonzalez said during the season he was 95 percent sure he would retire after the 2012 season. His productive season made it difficult to stick with the retirement plan. Gonzalez, who turned 37 last month, led the Falcons with 93 catches for 930 yards and eight touchdowns. Each total set a high for his four seasons in Atlanta. He added 14 catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns in the team's two postseason games.

Moore, William (S)

Posted March 09, 2013 @ 1:54 p.m.
The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with Moore on a five-year contract.
Moore was a Pro Bowl alternate with Atlanta last season, when he had four interceptions and 105 tackles. He was one of the top names on the team's list of unrestricted free agents.

Smith, Antone (RB)

Posted March 05, 2013 @ 2:56 p.m.
The Atlanta Falcons have signed Smith to a two-year contract extension.
Smith has only one carry in three seasons with the Falcons. Playing primarily on special teams, Smith appeared in 13 games in 2012 and had four tackles. Smith, who first signed with Detroit as an undrafted college free agent before the 2009 season, was signed to the Falcons' practice squad during the 2009 season.

Ryan, Matt (QB)

Ryan sprained his left shoulder in the closing minutes of the NFC championship game and won't be able to play in Sunday's Pro Bowl.
Coach Mike Smith says Ryan will need three to four weeks to recover from the injury, which was described as a sprained AC joint to the non-throwing shoulder. No surgery is required.

Jones, Julio (WR)

Posted Jan. 21, 2013 @ 12:06 p.m.
Jones set an overall career high with 182 receiving yards and matched a personal best with 11 receptions and second twice in Sunday's NFC title game loss to the 49ers.
Jones broke out in his second season with 79 catches for 1,198 yards and 10 TDs. He is likely to be a top 5 fantasy receiver in 2013.
