The NFL suspended Washington for the first four regular season games of 2013 after he violated the league's substance abuse policy.
Washington made the Pro Bowl last season as an alternate after leading Arizona with 140 tackles.

Taylor, Curtis (S)

Taylor signed a one-year deal with Arizona.
Taylor has played in 12 games for San Francisco in his career. He was on the 49ers' practice squad last postseason after signing with the team on Dec. 26.

McCann, Bryan (CB)

Arizona signed McCann to a one-year contract.
McCann played in eight games for Miami last season. In 2011, he played in 12 games with Dallas, Baltimore and Oakland. He began with the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2010.

Palmer, Carson (QB)

The Arizona Cardinals have acquired quarterback Carson Palmer from the Oakland Raiders. The Cardinals gave up a conditional 2014 draft pick and swapped one of their sixth-round picks this year for Oakland's seventh-round selection.
Palmer, who agreed to rework his contract with the Cardinals, is expected to move into the starting quarterback role for new Arizona coach Bruce Arians.

Amaya played in 12 games last season for the Miami Dolphins, where he was second on the team in special teams tackles with seven.

Rucker, Frostee (DE)

Rucker has agreed to a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
Rucker started all 16 games with the Cleveland Browns last season, with four sacks, a forced fumble and a pass defensed. His 48 tackles were third-most on the team. Rucker joined the Browns last season after six years with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a third-round draft pick of the Bengals out of Southern California in 2006.

Shaughnessy, Matt (DE)

The Arizona Cardinals have reached agreement on a one-year contract with defensive end Matt Shaughnessy, the seventh free agent acquired by the team this week.
Shaughnessy started all 16 games last season with the Oakland Raiders. He had 3.5 sacks along with 42 tackles, 29 solos. The Raiders selected Shaughnessy in the third round of the 2009 draft out of Wisconsin, where he was a teammate of Arizona outside linebacker O'Brien Schofield.

Mendenhall, Rashard (RB)

The Arizona Cardinals addressed one of their significant needs on Wednesday by reaching agreement on a one-year contract with Mendenhall.
Mendenhall played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where his offensive coordinator for much of that time was new Arizona head coach Bruce Arians. Mendenhall had a difficult 2012 season after tearing an ACL in 2011. Last year, he rushed for just 182 yards in 52 carries. Mendenhall rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Johnson, Rashad (S)

The Cardinals have re-signed Johnson to a three-year contract.
Johnson spent the last four seasons with the Cardinals and became a free agent after last season. The 2009 third-round draft pick out of Alabama is expected to start at strong safety after taking the job from Adrian Wilson late last season. Wilson, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, was released by Arizona last week. Johnson had a career-best two interceptions last season with 15 tackles and a fumble recovery in 15 games, three as a starter.
