The Saints announced a three-year contract for restricted free-agent DE Junior Galette on Saturday.

A 2010 undrafted free agent by New Orleans out of Stillman college, Galette collected a career-high five sacks playing in a rotational role at end. But the Saints will transition to a 3-4 under new coordinator Rob Ryan, a scheme that could allow the 6-2, 258-pounder to excel rushing off the edge out of a two-point stance.

The Saints' defense ranked last in the league (440.1 yards per game) in 2012, which led to the firing of Steve Spagnuolo. GM Mickey Loomis will spend the offseason searching for players who better fit Ryan's aggressive odd front. Apparently, Galette is one of them.
