The Cardinals promoted Jason Licht to vice president of player personnel, the team announced Tuesday. The position was formally held by Steve Keim, who was promoted to general manager.

“Jason has been a valuable member of our organization with an outstanding and well-earned reputation throughout the league,” said Keim. “In this new role he will take on an increased role in both college and pro personnel evaluation and also with contract negotiations.”

Licht re-joined the Cardinals last May — he was the team's personnel executive in 2008. From 2009-11, Licht was the Patriots' director of pro personnel.
