Texans CB Brice McCain underwent surgery for a broken foot on Monday morning. Head coach Gary Kubiak confirmed that McCain has a fracture in his foot and will be placed on injured reserve with the designation to return. McCain would be eligible to play in a game in eight weeks, making him available if Houston advances to the Super Bowl.
McCain started at right cornerback in Houston’s win over the Titans in Week 13, playing for an injured Johnathan Joseph.
In 12 games and two starts this season, McCain has 24 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception. The Texans, who play the Patriots on Monday night in Week 14, were without Joseph and CB Alan Ball in Week 13. Second-year CB Brandon Harris likely would replace McCain.
