Chargers OLT Jared Gaither has been placed on injured reserve with a groin injury, the team announced Friday, ending an injury-plagued season for the former Raven in his second year with the Chargers.
Gaither injured his groin near the end of a Sunday night game in New Orleans in Week Five but was back in the starting lineup in Week Eight. He left the Chargers’ Thursday-night game against the Chiefs in Week Nine and hasn’t played since.
Gaither was bothered by injuries all season, starting with back spasms in training camp that kept him out of the team’s first three games. He made four total starts this season.
Undrafted rookie Mike Harris has been Gaither’s replacement, starting six games in his absence, and should start the rest of the season.
