The Ravens signed former Raiders CB Chris Johnson on Tuesday and placed rookie RB Bobby Rainey on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Johnson was cut by the Raiders in March and did not participate in training camp with any team this summer. His sister was tragically shot to death last year and he finished the season on the reserve/non-football injury list.
Johnson played for the Raiders from 2007-11, starting 29 games over that time and picking off eight passes. He had 18 passes defensed in ’09. Johnson played in 13 games for the Rams in 2005 and was a member of the Packers’ roster from 2003-04.
The 33-year-old gives the Ravens depth at corner, as the team is without Lardarius Webb for the season and Jimmy Smith missed Sunday’s game with a groin injury.
Rainey spent the first six weeks of the season on the practice squad and was inactive for three games.
