The Lions released CB Alphonso Smith on Monday, creating room to activate CB Drayton Florence from the short-term injured reserve list.
Smith played in four games this season and made eight tackles and two passes defensed. He had three picks and six passes defensed in 11 games for the Lions last season.
Florence, who played in the first two games of the season, broke his arm in Week Two. He had a pass defensed in each game.
According to the league’s transactions, the Lions claimed CB Pat Lee off waivers from the Raiders. Lee played in eight games with seven starts for Oakland this season and made 30 tackles, four passes defensed, one interception and a forced fumble.
