Chargers PK Nate Kaeding passed his physical and was released on Tuesday.

San Diego placed Kaeding on injured reserve with a groin injury last week with the intention to release him when he got healthy. The move was made so that the Chargers could add WR Danario Alexander. Nick Novak has been handling kicking duties.

Kaeding, who is free to sign with another team, converted all seven of his field-goal attempts in three games this season. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week One in 2011. Kaeding is 87.0 percent in his career on field goals.
