The NFL fined the Bills and Redskins each $20,000 for violations of the league’s injury-reporting policy.
The Bills came under fire for not listing DE Mario Williams on their injury report. Williams had not missed a practice, but publicly discussed a wrist injury that was not listed on the injury report. In the past two weeks, Williams has been listed on the injury report for his wrist.
The Redskins did not properly handle Robert Griffin III’s in-game injury from Week Five. He was treated properly for a concussion, but the updates to the media were considered violations. Griffin was described as “shaken up.” No further update on his injury or playing status was given.
After the game, the Redskins confirmed he had a concussion, but the team knew about it minutes after Griffin left the game, and his status should have been “out with a concussion” instead of “questionable.”
