Chargers DL Garrett Brown has been suspended four games without pay by the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

He can continue practicing with the team and playing in preseason games, but he will not be allowed to participate for the first four weeks of the regular season.

Brown joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2010, but he has never played in a regular-season game. The 23-year-old played in San Diego's preseason opener vs. Green Bay.
