Former Florida Gators RB Jeff Demps has filed paperwork with the NFL to play football in 2012, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

In 2011, Demps had 569 yards rushing, 172 receiving and had a kickoff-return touchdown. He gained 6.7 yards per carry in his college career.

Demps decided to pursue a track career after his senior season. He declined an invitation to the Combine and went undrafted. At the London Olympics, Demps received a silver medal after being a member of the 4x100 men’s relay team.
