The Jaguars announced the release of DE Aaron Kampman on Thursday.

Knee injuries hindered Kampman, who was slated to make $4.975 million in salary in 2012, throughout his time in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars signed Kampman to a four-year deal before the 2010 season. He was coming off a torn ACL and then tore the ACL in his other knee eight games into the season.

In 2011, Kampman played in only three games before landing on injured reserve. He had a setback with his knee early in the season.

In two years with Jacksonville, Kampman played in 11 games and recorded four sacks. He had 54 sacks in eight seasons with the Packers from 2002-09. Kampman missed only one game from 2004-08, though he has played in a combined 20 games in the past three seasons.
