The Browns have signed LB Emmanuel Acho, a sixth-round pick from Texas, the club announced Monday.
Acho (6-2, 238) notched 131 tackles in his senior season at Texas. In PFW's 2012 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that Acho was a "three-position backup lacking starter-caliber traits in any area" who "(could) be best playing on the strong side in the pros."
In addition, the club signed rookie RB Adonis Thomas and second-year LB JoJo Dickson and released RB Armond Smith.
Thomas (5-8, 185) rushed for 1,071 yards and 12 TDs in his senior season at Toledo. He tried out for the club this weekend.
Dickson, who played at Idaho, was signed as an undrafted free agent by Jacksonville in 2011. The Jaguars waived him on July 31, 2011. He re-signed with Jacksonville on April 16 but was waived on April 27.
Smith, 26, played in three games for Cleveland in 2011, rushing three times for two yards. The Browns released him on Oct. 18, and he was re-signed to their practice squad two days later.
