The Chargers have hired Ron Meeks as their secondary coach. He spent last season in the same role with the Panthers after being a defensive coordinator with the Colts (2002-08) and Carolina (2009-10) earlier in his career.

Meeks takes over for Steve Wilks, who was hired last week in Carolina.

Head coach Norv Turner is familiar with Meeks, as the two worked together previously on staffs with the Cowboys and Redskins.

The way we see it

The Chargers have some major question marks in their secondary, so adding an established coach like Meeks will be beneficial. The coach has a past history with SS Bob Sanders, whom the team may re-sign this offseason.
