The effects of the NFL lockout have hit the world of gaming, as it was announced Wednesday that the release of "Madden NFL 12" will be delayed by three weeks.

The game will now hit stores on Tuesday, Aug. 30, rather than the previously stated release date of Aug. 9.

The later date will allow EA Sports extra time to critique the rosters if and when free agency begins. The game will be released regardless of whether or not there is an NFL season.
