Notes:

Also played hockey as a California youth — almost gave up playing football to play hockey at a prep school in Minnesota. His California team lost in double overtime to the Czech Republic in the title game of an international junior hockey tournament in Quebec City when Dye was 13. As a high school athlete, Dye played running back in addition to safety and ran track for one season. Saw action in 11 games in 2008, making one start against Oregon State in the nickel package, and made 15 tackles, zero pass breakups and zero interceptions. Started all 13 games at strong safety in ’09, recording 73-2-0 and had a 28-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Was named the team’s co-Defensive MVP in ’10 after leading the squad in tackles with 96-9-1 with 3 1/2 tackles for loss in 12 starts at strong safety. Had an injured-filled '11 season, making only five starts — the first three games at free safety and two games at strong safety late in the season — and recording 23-0-0 with 1/2 tackle for loss. Missed seven straight games between starts with neck soreness, did not play in the Pac-12 championship game with an ankle injury and was ruled ineligible for the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against Illinois. Team captain.
