His younger brother, Zach, is a linebacker at North Carolina State. Played multiple positions  (wide receiver, tight end, running back, outside linebacker and defensive end) as a North Carolina prep. Saw most of his action on special teams, playing in all 13 games in 2008 and starting the final two at fullback, and caught seven passes for 72 yards (10.3-yard average). In ’09, led the team in special-teams snaps (219) and tackles (21) in addition to catching 10-83-1 (8.3) in 12 games (five starts at fullback). Continued as the starting fullback in ’10 although he has never rushed the ball but caught 14-116-2 (8.3) in 13 games (eight starts — non-starts were because of extra WR). Has been the Wolfpack’s Special Teams Player of the Year for the past two seasons. Only played in six games (three starts) in '11 and grabbed 7-42-2 (6.0). Missed the last seven games with an ankle injury and also saw some action at defensive tackle in the Georgia Tech game.
