Was also a kicker as a Georgia prep. Did not enroll at Florida State until January 2008. In the fall, handled all placement holds as a true freshman in all 13 games. Started the first seven games of the season, filling in for the injured Graham Gano, and punted 18 times for an average of 41.1 yards with a long of 56 and four dropped inside the 20-yard line. Became the starting punter in ’09 and booted 43-41.6-L64-13 and handled all placement holds. Punted 50-44.3-L66-16 and held for all placements in ’10. Completed a 33-yard pass against Maryland. Had a stellar season in ’11, setting the school’s single-season record for punting average after booming 57-47.0-L69-23. Also set the career mark for punting average at 47.0 yards, breaking Rohn Stark’s record of 44.2. Team captain.Positives:
Field-position weapon — has big-time leg strength to flip the field. Would have led the nation in average and net if qualified. Consistent quickness. Regularly pins opponents deep in territory. Held for place kicks.Negatives:
Could stand to get in better shape. Durability needs to be evaluated closely (back).Summary:
Big, confident, highly productive and effective punter with a booming leg. Is draftable and can be counted on to handle punting duties as a rookie.
