Brother, Brandon, was a running back for the Vulcans (2006-09). Also ran track as a Pennsylvania prep. Graduated high school in ’06, but worked full-time in a factory before playing in ’08 — saw action in the final 10 games and made six tackles, zero pass breakups and zero interceptions with one forced fumble. Was a reserve cornerback in ’09, appearing in 14 games and managed 28-1-1. In ’10, made 11 starts at safety and led the team in interceptions with 49-7-5 with one tackle for loss. Logged 36-4-2 with one forced fumble while making all 13 starts at cornerback in ’11.

Nice length. Thin ankles. Fluid and athletic. Balanced, quick-footed pedal. Breaks on throws. Efficient plant and drive. Good range and ball skills — can make athletic plays on the ball and high-point interceptions. Shows closing burst. Darts downhill in run support and is a willing tackler. Has played corner and safety. Has special-teams experience, including as a “gunner.”

Overaged. Has a narrow frame with a slender build (lacks ideal bulk for a safety). Needs to improve functional strength — underpowered jam, slow to disengage and cannot drive through ballcarriers. Dips his head and leads with the crown of his helmet. Lacks elite top-end speed for a corner. Allows too much cushion. Only a two-year starter and production was not special against marginal competition. Did not play in an all-star game.

Wiry, athletic, versatile, overaged defensive back with appealing cover skills, ball skills and special-teams ability. Has flown under the radar but has intriguing upside.
