Was a three-year starter as a California prep. Saw action in 13 games as a true freshman in 2008 with 13 tackles, zero pass breakup and zero interceptions with one tackle for loss and one forced fumble. Was switched to strong safety after spring practice in ’09 and started all 13 games, recording 41-1-2 with a 79-yard interception return for a touchdown. In ’10, played in all 13 games, making 12 starts at cornerback and one at free safety, and posted 60-12-1 with three tackles for loss and one forced fumble.  Switched back to safety for the ’11 season and made all 12 starts, logging 69-5-1 (91-yard touchdown against Washington) with two tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
