Named the Nebraska Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 after leading his team to a state championship and a 31-5 record during his prep career. Also played fullback and threw the shot put. Saw action in all 12 games as a true freshman in 2007, recording 37 tackles, 2 1/2 tackles for loss and 1 1/2 sacks with one forced fumble. Led the Bobcats in tackles in ’08, logging 104-5-1 with two pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble in 12 games (10 starts at middle linebacker and one at “Sam” linebacker). In ’09, amassed 155-9-2 with three pass breakups, one interception and two forced fumbles to lead the Mid-American Conference in tackles in 14 starts at MLB. Had surgery in January ’10 for a slight tear in the lateral meniscus of his left knee. In the fall, had his season cut short after three starts with a torn tendon in his right big toe, suffered against Ohio State, and underwent surgery in October. Posted 26-1-1 with one forced fumble and one blocked kick before taking a medical redshirt. Returned in ’11 to start all 14 games at MLB and led the team in tackles with 116-8-1 with four pass breakups, one interception and three forced fumbles. Two-time team captain.

A three-time captain, Keller is a short-armed, intelligent, mid-major tackling machine with outstanding football makeup who will have to earn his keep on special teams. Has a 37-inch vertical, but lacks functional strength to take on/shed with authority or strike with force. Durability could be an issue.
