Also lettered in basketball (twice) and track (four times) as a California prep. Saw action in nine games as a true freshman in 2008, grabbing 11 passes for 169 yards (15.4-yard average) and zero touchdowns. Missed three games because of injuries – Brigham Young and Arizona games (ankle) and Oregon State (knee). Led the Bruins in receiving yards in ’09 after totaling 42-723-2 (17.2) in 13 games. Made the first two starts of his career – one at split end vs. Oregon State and as part of a three-WR set vs. Arizona State. Started 8-of-9 contests at split end in ’10 and recorded 29-309-1 (10.7). Sprained his left ankle on the opening drive against Washington State and missed the next three games. Also competes for UCLA’s track team in the long jump and the high jump. Led Bruin receiver in catches and receiving yards in '11 after grabbing 64-1,161-5 (18.1) while starting 13-of-14 contests (did not start vs. Colorado).Summary:
Big, extremely long-armed, strong-handed, inconsistent flash player who shows the ability to reel in highlight grabs, though he lacks speed, suddenness and flexibility to consistently separate. Has terrific size and presents a large target, but is straight-linish and questions exist regarding intermittent intensity, competitiveness and toughness.
