Notes:

First name is Muhammad. Last name is pronounced “PET-russ.” The St. Laurent, Quebec, native redshirted in 2007. Started all 13 games at left guard in ’08 and helped RB Donald Brown lead the nation in rushing with 2,083 yards. Moved over to center for the ’09 campaign and has started all 38 games over the past three seasons — 13 in ’09, 13 in ’10 and 12 in ’11. Turned 26 years old in February. Team captain.

Positives:

Good initial quickness and foot speed. Works to place his hands and position. Functional linear mobility to initiate contact on the second level. Very intelligent. Tough, durable, four-year starter. Good character — mature, motivated and hardworking.

Negatives:

Overaged. Lacks ideal length, has short arms and struggles to sustain. Athletic ability is just adequate. Tightly wound. Plays too tall and does not create a surge. Struggles matching with quickness. Needs help to survive. Center only.

Summary:

Soft-bodied, short-armed, overaged center whose intangibles surpass his physical ability. Camp body likely destined for the CFL.
