Was an all-state selection as a Pennsylvania prep. Redshirted in 2007. Appeared in five games as a reserve in ’08. Saw action in all 13 games in ’09, starting the final nine contests at left tackle. Underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder after the season and missed ’10 spring practice. In the fall, played in 12 games — started the first five games at right tackle and made seven starts at left tackle. Did not play in the regular-season finale with a knee injury but returned to start in the Fiesta Bowl. Had surgery on his right knee and missed spring practice in ’11. Returned to the lineup in the fall and started all 12 games, making 10 starts at left tackle and filled it at right tackle for two games, in '11.
